Hi Warren! Staying in the Word daily keeps us filled. We need it more than food and water.

Thanks for pointing that out. I am noticing the same as you mentioned. Many have received Jesus and are in a relationship with Him. That’s most important.

There are just many unBiblical things that I have seen growing up in that religion. They were very harsh toward my husband when we were going to get married there. They would not allow my husband and any of his family to receive communion at our wedding because they were not part of that religion. His family were saved believers living for the Lord but they weren’t allowed to partake in the Lord’s supper because they didn’t belong to that religion. That’s unBiblical. I didn’t even know Christ then, but I still knew that wasn’t right.

Another was at my Grandma’s funeral, the priest said my Grandma was in heaven because she was baptized as a baby. Again that is completely false. All those at the funeral were going through life thinking they were saved because an act that their parents did for them as a baby. The Bible is our standard, not man made religion and rules. If religion is preaching anything other than God’s Word it is false and of the devil.

I just pray their doctrine has changed since then and they base it completely on the Bible, not their own rules.

I have a lot of Catholic friends and family. I’m glad to say that there is a movement among Catholic members to study the Bible, and many are in home Bible studies. That is certainly good for all of us!

Hi Kerry! Thank you for sharing your wonderful testimony. I like how you said you can’t take your parents’ faith. That’s so true. We have to make it our own, by cultivating our own relationship with Jesus. It’s a great lesson to learn with our own children as well. We can only model and lead them to a relationship with Christ, but then they have to make that choice for themselves.

Thank you for this post! So powerful, and such a good reminder. It’s too easy to move away from the passionate, grateful love we experience at salvation to a complacent, empty walk by ourselves. I’ve been guilty of it and am so grateful for God’s grace.
I was saved at a young age (7) and was blessed to have parents who walked closely with Jesus, but at the same time a child can’t take their parents’ faith. We have to make our faith active by cultivating a relationship with Jesus on our own.
At 21 I rededicated my life to Jesus and again around 30 I also rededicated my life after going through a trial. That trial was a blessing; it tested my faith and found Jesus to be exactly Who He says He is – faithful, true, unchanging, a fortress and strong tower.
I love the prayer/verse you shared (Ps 51:12) and when I looked it up to highlight in my bible, I read verse 13 too – which reminded me of you. 🙂

Thanks for the wonderful comment, Mark! It is interesting the different emotions we feel when we receive Christ. I was ecstatic that God was real and alive. That meant I had a purpose in this crazy life. I did also battle condemnation though, and still do at times. I was planning on talking about that next week or the week after.
