Your words really touched me and reminded me that our attitude affects our actions, and that our attitude must be Christ-driven and eternally-focused.

I very much agree about the last couple paragraphs. I would have done a poor job teaching Sunday school even a few years ago. But after going through a difficult trial a couple years ago and truly (finally!) learning that God’s word and our Savior’s strength is what we should base our lives on, I felt called and able (through Christ) to teach our youth.

The more we view ourselves as “able,” the greater our pride. But the more we realize we can do all things ONLY through CHRIST who strengthens us, then we’re truly able. Only then.

God is so good, and I am so thankful for you and your writing ministry!

Hugs,
Kerry

Wonderful message, Glen! I love what your wife told you, that you would never be able to figure out what God has in mind for you. What great advice. There’s no point in worrying since we can’t figure it out on our own anyway.
Thanks for sharing your story. Praying God blesses you and your wife financially in abundance till it overflows to others. God bless you:)

He plants that seed of doubt in our minds. See, God isn’t going to provide for your financial needs, where is his provision he promised you? Rather than waiting on God we then take our eyes off God’s promise and begin to look to ourselves to fill the need. That is all the enemy needs to get us off track is a little doubt, and that little doubt can grow so quickly in our minds.
I injured by back in July of 11 and have had two surgeries, have been off work for 7 months. My first reaction was to find on line employment where I could work at home on the computer. I kept running in circles, getting no where, and I began to worry. One day my wife told me that I would never be able to figure out what God has in mind for me. She said that I need to stop trying to figure it out. She was right, I turned by attention back to God. It wasn’t long that God provided a band saw for me, that is confirmation of what I was hearing from God the past few weeks. I set up the saw in the basement and began woodcraft projects as God had told me. I have really loved doing these projects. I now have enough crafts to do a show. In the meantime doors began to open for us in ministry, a large church, that is a one hour drive with the truck and trailer, has become a huge supporter of our ministry. We give away clothes there one Saturday each month. They are now organizing a clothing drive to help supply us with clothing for the mobile clothes bank.
A little while back, I asked our pastor if we could use the activities building to set up a craft show so I could sell my crafts. A week later my pastor contacted me and told me the church is going to do a benefit for us. God is providing for us, I don’t know what will happen in the next few months, but I do know that I need to be obedient to God, and keep making the woodcraft’s, and distributing clothes where God opens doors for us to do so.
I could say that I am still in my wilderness, due to the fact that I have no work, nor have I been released by the Dr. to go back to work. I know if I would look at my circumstances, not able to work, no income, that would be reason to worry. This morning I got awake thinking about just that, and for a moment I began to feel a little concerned. Then I read your post, Amanda, what a timely word for me. With my focus back on God, I see myself in a situation where I can see God really working in my life. If I continue to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, I will be led out of my wilderness, if I want to call it that. I would rather see it as an opportunity for God to prepare me for what work he has for me in the near future. The only way out of the wilderness is by following God. Being obedient to God, doing what he tells you no matter how silly it may seem.
2 Kings 4:1 One day the widow of a member of the group of prophets came to Elisha and cried out, “My husband who served you is dead, and you know how he feared the LORD. But now a creditor has come, threatening to take my two sons as slaves.” 2 “What can I do to help you?” Elisha asked. “Tell me, what do you have in the house?” “Nothing at all, except a flask of olive oil,” she replied.
3 And Elisha said, “Borrow as many empty jars as you can from your friends and neighbors. 4 Then go into your house with your sons and shut the door behind you. Pour olive oil from your flask into the jars, setting each one aside when it is filled.”
5 So she did as she was told. Her sons kept bringing jars to her, and she filled one after another. 6 Soon every container was full to the brim!
“Bring me another jar,” she said to one of her sons.
“There aren’t any more!” he told her. And then the olive oil stopped flowing.
7 When she told the man of God what had happened, he said to her, “Now sell the olive oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on what is left over.”

Follow God and he will lead you out of the wilderness.
